Top 5 Darth Vader quotes that prove he is the ultimate badass

Darth Vader is one of the best (if not *the* best) villains of all time. From the first moment the Sith Lord stepped onto our screens in 1977, he commanded respect and radiated power! Darth Vader is no doubt, absolutely terrifying, but we also get to see a small side of humanity shine through in the original trilogy, especially in ‘Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi’ when he completely redeems himself and renounces his treacherous ways! Even from his young beginning with “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace”, Anakin Skywalker showed audiences how he was never prepared to take ‘no’ for an answer, even from the most powerful of Jedi Masters. Throughout his descent to the ‘Dark Side’ and his quest for domination of the galaxy, Darth Vader has become one of the most quoted characters of all time!

Here are the Top 5 Quotes from Darth Vader!

“I find your lack of faith disturbing!”

Darth Vader - I find your lack of faith disturbing

This is probably the second-most quoted line from Darth Vader throughout the entire franchise! Darth Vader shows the audience a hint of “the power of the Dark Side”, when he chokes Admiral Motti by only clenching his fist in the air, and telling Motti “I find your lack of faith disturbing”. Honestly though, we were routing for Darth Vader in this scene! During “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope”, Admiral Motti doubts Darth Vader’s power in front of the entire group by saying “Don’t try to frighten us with your sorcerer’s ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes, or given you clairvoyance enough to find the Rebels’ hidden fortress”. Naturally, Darth Vader can’t let him question his integrity and power during a time of war.  Totally Team Vader for this scene!

“You Have Failed Me For The Last Time!”

Darth Vader “You Have Failed Me For The Last Time!”

It was probably a stressful job, being an employee of the Empire, and one of the core stresses was likely to be working closely with Darth Vader. Saying that, we’ve all had a boss that we hated at some time or another, but the notorious Sith Lord takes it to a whole other level when it comes to his expectations from the Empire ‘workers’. During “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”, when Darth Vader tells Admiral Ozzel “you have failed me for the last time!”, while choking him through a screen, it really shows that the “Dark Side” doesn’t accept failure (it also shows that Darth Vader really loves choking people!).

“Be Careful Not To Choke On Your Aspirations!”

Darth Vader “Be Careful Not To Choke On Your Aspirations!”

When Disney began to create a whole new trilogy for the Star Wars franchise, long term fans of the original trilogy were concerned, as the prequel trilogy hadn’t received as high praise as the creators were hoping for. However, when it came to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, fans were put completely at ease, as the missing piece of the story was finally put together. The writers for Rogue One really hit the nail on the head when Darth Vader ushers the words “be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director”, as he promotes Orson Krennic to the Director position. This line was very much keeping true to Darth Vader’s witty, albeit terrifying, persona that makes him one of the best villains in movie history.

“No…I Am Your Father!”

No...I Am Your Father!

This is without question, the most-quoted line from the entire Star Wars franchise. “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” brought the most iconic scene in the entire Saga of all 11 Star Wars movies, and possibly all of movie history. As Luke Skywalker battles Darth Vader in Cloud City, he spews his hatred for the treacherours Sith Lord by saying that Obi-Wan “told me you killed him”. Alas, that was not the case, and Darth Vader said the iconic line of “No…I am your father!”. Not even George Lucas could fathom that this line would be quoted by movie-lovers for the next 40 years, and counting. Nowadays, the hype is still there, and you see so many people wearing t-shirts that say ‘I am your father” (and good luck to anyone who is called Luke, as I’m sure they hear that line all the time!).

“When I left you, I was but a learner. Now, I am the Master!”

When I left you, I was but a learner. Now, I am the Master!

This was probably what every student wanted to say to their teacher in 1977 after seeing “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope”. As Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader face each other for the first time in decades, the audience learns that the two have a lot to say. This scene showed Darth Vader’s Jedi past with a bit more clarity, and gave the audience an insight into how far he has come since joining the ‘Dark Side’. Darth Vader taunts Obi-Wan Kenobi by saying the iconic lines: “I’ve been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner. Now, I am the master!”.

I've always had a deep love and fascination for movies, being an especially strong advocate for the weird, foreign, underrated, under-budgeted and unfairly NC17 rated films of our world. Cinesister is the embodiment of this passion (which some might call an obsession).
